Protect our kids - Kids with Mobiles and New mobile telephone directory

Do you have kids under 18 with mobiles?

Then you will want to protect them from a new mobile phone directory that goes live on June 18th!!! Yes there is a new mobile phone directory that has Millioooooons of mobile phone numbers and there is no way of telling if your childs number is on the directory or for them if the number belongs to a child. The directory won't actually give out numbers but will put calls through to these numbers!!!

To make sure your child cannot be contacted via this service, simply text the letter E to 118 800 from your child’s mobile phone or call them on 0800 138 6263, you can also become ex-directory by texting the letter ‘E’ to 118800 from the mobile phone you want to be made ex-directory or you can call us on 0800 138 6263

Lets make sure our kids are safe!!!

Out in Plymouth - Annabels

So what do you do when you get to Plymouth on a Friday night and there is no Salsa?

Well you go to Annabels Cabaret & Disco! What a great place and what fun was had!

There are two floors the first floor is cabaret, a small intermate atmosphere with tables around a small dance floor looking onto the stage (reminded me a little of Ronnie Scotts). Now the coctails well some of the best I have had in years and we downed quite a few with the Mahitas being some of the best I have tasted.

There is always a live band of some kind (Check the website)
(FaceBook) this week it was a swing band with a burlesque
performance during the interval enjoyed by all.

The band were excellent with great cover versions of some of the latest tunes, great performers and fun to watch and well Salsa is a little similar to Swing isn't it!!? Well we just had to take over the dance floor and thanks to Aimee for the amazing 'SwingBachata'
Had to be done and thanks to the audiance for all the cheers and clapping!

The second floor is disco and although good I somehow wish we had kept our little table and stayed on the dance floor.

Review * 9/10. The place was buzzing and totally different to anywhere I have been up this way and in the words od Arnie 'i'll be back!'

Harlow Salsa Party

Harlow Salsa Party was once a gain a good night although a little quiter with some of the regulars off in Spain and Barcelona dancing.

This time there was a real focus on Bachata including a show and more free dance Bachata than normally and we are talking about a club here that love their Bachata!

So for me it was a great night the man that did a Bachata lesson 3 years ago and hated it and did not try Bachata again for a year! Now I love it and seem to get pre-booked at clubs that just play a few!

At My club 'Chill Out Salsa Sundays' Cinnabar we have an unwritten rule, you never get just one Bachata, there are always a minimum of 2 in a row so you get to catch that person you want to dance with.

Well great night again as usual thanks Ray and thatks to all you lovely ladies that have given me a new nickname after those Bachatas, now known as 'The Thigh Master' lol!!

Dancing in Devon

Just had another great weekend in Devon, chilling and taking in the great scenery but then once its dark what do you do? You go and dance Salsa of course but where do you go.

Well I have checked out a number of places on prevoious occasions such as the Grovesner Hotel, great Venue but once a month and sadly not this weekend. I plan to give you feedback each time I visit so you can get an idea of where you can go.

So Friday Night ' The Latin Lounge' Plymouth.
http://www.latinlounge.co.uk/

Nice venue, not been running long but again they have the odd Friday night party so its a case of checking the website to see when there is a Friday Night Party!
The venue is a little small and hot, although the music was good with 'Tim' as DJ so nice mix of Salsa, Bachata and some R&B which I will say is unusual for Devon. Nice bunch of friendly people so worth a visit.

Sunday Night - Bar Venezia - Exeter

Normally Salsa on a Sunday, again a nice atmosphere and chance you will be dancing with many of the people you met on Friday, music Salsa, Bachata and Reggerton it is small though and you can bump a bit but still OK.

Thanks for all the great dances girls and see you all on the next trip

Timepiece

Well an 11.30 finish on a bank holiday weekend is just to early so its off to 'Timepiece' a bar/club in Exeter. 3 floors of Latin, R&B, Drum & Base.

If you like a party atmosphere with a mix of lots of latin and passing drinkers then this place is great it's sort of a Chicagoes meets Salsa but a great laugh, but I understand it's only Latin on Tuesdays or Bank Holiday Sundays! I loved it, but then I am a bit of a party animal but it may not be everyones cup of tea.

Valuables at Salsa!

Have we got to trusting at Salsa? Everyone remarks on how lovely the people are at Salsa and the fact that you can just throw your bag down in the corner and not worry about it, pick it up at the end of a fantastic night and then go home.

I was sad to here a friend had her purse stolen at Salsa the other week, luckily she got back the irreplaceable photos (all be it waterlogged) of her father when the purse was handed in, but the cash and cards were of course gone.

It makes me think may be we have become complacent and may be we need to become a little more careful when it comes to valuables, granted this was a London club not a local venue so may be we need to think about where we are and the fact that we don’t know 90% of the people there! Food for Thought!

Anyway it got me a thinking and I felt I needed to give you all a little warning along with a tip.

If you have valuable irreplaceable photos in your handbag, wallet or purse you should go home or ask a friend to scan them, save to your computer and a disc in case the computer crashes and make copies, that way you don’t have the heartbreak of loosing something very special.

Chill Out Salsa Sunday - Cinnabar March 2009

Last Sunday saw the first 'Chill Out Salsa Sunday' at the new look Cinnabar. It was a great turnout as usual and thank you all for coming and great to see even more new faces.

Most of you that I spoke to liked the new look although some felt that it was a bit pink! But that's a personal thing! Those that tried the new menu made good comments to the food being very nice.

So great success again and looking forward to next month and our 'Chill Out Salsa Sundays' First Birthday.

Please check it out and give me your feed back by adding a comment to the guest book, if you want to be included on my weekly what's On Newsletter please register on the site.
